We are actively looking for undergraduate research assistants, technicians, graduate students, and postdocs to join the lab. Undergraduates must be in a STEM major at UF, and can be in any academic year.

The Team
Principal Investigator
Mark Moehle, Ph.D.
Dr. Moehle joined the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics in August 2020 to establish his independent lab.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Nicole Chambers, Ph.D.
Dr. Chambers joined the lab in November of 2021. She is interested in the neural correlates of motor and non-motor symptoms of movement disorders. Outside of the lab she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and playing the clarinet and piano.
Graduate Research Assistant
Michael Millett
Michael joined the lab in January of 2022. His primary research goal is understanding molecular mechanisms behind disease symptoms that he can improve knowledge for therapeutic intervention strategies. In his free time, Michael enjoys working out and pampering his cat.

Ignacio Gallardo
Ignacio joined the lab in March of 2023. He is interested in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying various neurodegenerative diseases to pave the way for novel therapeutics. In his free time, Ignacio enjoys working out, traveling, and playing the drums.

Jessica joined the lab in March of 2024. Outside of the lab she is a sports fan and avid soccer player.

Rick joined the lab as a volunteer in spring of 2024. He is the Founder and President of Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure.

Barbara Balsamo, B.S.
Barbara joined the lab in the spring of 2023 as an undergraduate research assistant. She then went on to participate in the Summer Neuroscience Internship Program and is now working in the lab as a postbac.

Allison Comite
Allison joined the lab in January of 2023. She is a senior-year Biology major on the Pre-Med Track. Outside of the lab, Allison is a volunteer with Child Life at Shands Children’s Hospital and an ambassador to the Center for Undergraduate Research. In her free time, she enjoys going to workout classes, drinking iced coffee, and hanging out with her friends.

Morgan Kaplan
Morgan joined the lab in the fall of 2022. She is a third-year Biochemistry major and Computer & Information Science & Engineering minor on the pre-med track. Outside of the lab, Morgan is a volunteer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, a member of ΚΚΨ and ΑΧΣ, the honorary band and pre-professional chemistry fraternities, respectively, and plays mellophone in Gator Band.

Sarah joined the lab in the fall of 2022. She is a junior at UF studying kinesiology. Outside of the lab she volunteers with UFPPAA. She enjoys reading, weightlifting, and traveling.

Elisabeth Martin Castosa
Elisabeth joined the lab in October 2022. She is a third Year Biochemistry major on the premed track. Outside the lab Elisabeth is a Volunteer at the Shands Cancer Hospital Emergency Department, the Humane Society of North Central Florida, and Expressions Learning academy. She enjoys dancing, singing , and going to the beach.

Preston Wagner
Preston joined the lab in January of 2022. He is majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Business and is interested in laboratory surgery techniques. Outside of lab, Preston is a volunteer at HCA North Florida, Vice President of SAE, the Junior Class Representative on student council. He also enjoys fishing, exercise, and Gator Football Games.
